So it goes...

That is exactly how I thought it would go. The Money. Some are also saying this represents a victory of the Obama camp over the Clinton camp. Two horrible camps fighting over which one gets the money and the power.

DU is once again closed to outsiders. Likely trying to figure out how to install Hillary to Her Rightful Throne. Reminds me a bit, come to think of it, of Daenerys T. - the signs of madness were always there, and she did not just snap - she just went full on Daenerys. Which is what scares me about cackling-over-death Hillary. The poor folk just need to know their place.

Isn't the schadenfreude wonderful? The DUers are desperately awaiting word from their high priests on what to think and what talking points to use on their coworkers on break. Meanwhile, they need their safe space, the poor darlings.

I checked them out yesterday; there were some saying if billionaires appointed the nominee, then that meant the Party was controlled by a few rich people and not Democratic voters. The dawn breaks! They also said it was probably their last post there.

I'm sure those people are being banned as we speak.

DU is back up. Take a gander at their new rules, by EarlG, who I presume is Skinner's successor:

"Since March, Democratic Underground has been operating on "General Election Season" rules. This policy, which we have had in place for the last 20 years, means that once a presumptive nominee has been determined, DU and its members will support the nominee.

However, now that President Biden has stepped down, we will be temporarily returning to "Primary Season" rules. This means that members are free to promote and campaign for any candidate they like as a replacement, until such time that we determine a new nominee. At that point we will once again declare "General Election Season" to be in effect.

I understand that many of you will be disappointed about this decision. I am too. However, it is imperative that DU members understand that going forward, regular DU rules are still in effect. If you announce that Biden's decision to drop out means that you are going to withhold your vote from the eventual Democratic nominee this November, you are in violation of DU rules and your post will likely be removed by a Jury. If you truly feel that way, fine -- just go somewhere else to post about it."

And, proving that some cult members DID have their minds broken, this little jewel:

"Assuming they want it, I'm also going to provide amnesty for members who were flagged for review during the last 30 days, if they were flagged for too many hides because they were pushing Biden to step down. It's water under the bridge now. All hands on deck."

LOL. Come back! The cult needs you and loves you! And we need your donations! What a freakish cesspool that place is. So much for Democrats falling in love and Republicans falling in line; it seems that in 2024 the reverse is more true.

News around the world - Russia (and I am sure many other countries) wonders if this was a coup, because no real official announcement and the Harris endorsement came a few minutes later.

My question is/was - if Biden has not been cogent, is anything he signed even valid? Did Harris also sign? And what about the worldwide collusion of countries and the US Congress regarding Biden's state? They have all been lying, even in the face of video proof.

This is sort of looking like infighting amongst Obama and Clinton camps and whatever "elites" are really running the country. And, wild conjecture here - perhaps the failure of the assassination took the Dems/letter agencies/whoever in panic mode. Nothing seems planned or orchestrated.

Looks like whoever really runs DU is aware that there will be an effort to oust Kamala, so is hedging bets.

As a woman, I am mightily pissed off at the caliber of "first woman president" I am expected to support, based merely on gender. A killer and a moron. Thanks, Dems.

And what’s worse is that many women are doing it!The “I’m With Her” Facebook memes popped up in almost literally an hour after Joe withdrew, and the level of veneration for the Camel is already reaching North Korean proportions.

One of my thoughts on this was hey! Are we expected to vote for someone just because they have a penis? and then I realized I did not want to go down that rabbit hole. IMO, a problem is the mindset of people who go after the politician job in the first place. It shouldn't be a paying job, much less an opportunity to get rich and inflict pain on other people and countries just for hubris' sake.

Hilariously, they are now saying Kamala is much more attractive and personable than Hillary....even comparing Harris' high heels to Hillary's flats. All the while bemoaning the issue of attractiveness. And all the fault of FOX. I expect the thread to be gone, really.

I will check in there later to see if they picked up on CNN's pathetic attempt at being cool - CNN does not understand the difference between Kamala being brat and being a brat. Hoping for some merriment. Also, I think "dumb as a rock" is more suitable anyway.

Also - pronouncing Kamala incorrectly is racist. According to the DNC, I think. Gonna be a long bizarre campaign season.

I wonder if picking a VP who is even less suitable and therefor less of a threat down the road is even possible.

A millennial singer released a new album (or whatever) called "brat". And then she said Kamala was "brat". Referring to how Kamala is as cool (or whatever) as the music. She was not saying Kamala was A brat, but that is how they understood it at CNN. I think Kamala's campaign also picked up the chartreuse color of the CD and is using it, too. Gotta give props to singer Charli XCX for getting all this free publicity!

Whoever wrote the rule campaign rule wrote it in their favor…this is how laws are made. By consensus of the ruling class to protect the status quo. The final nail in the coffin…leading to the complete corporate takeover of America was the Citizens United SCOTUS ruling. Both parties are basically carbon copies of each other….groveling to mega corporate fat cats while the middle and working classes continue to get screwed; Trump is no savior. The best we can hope for is that he gets elected and ends the war in Ukraine. I’ll take that as a win, but I have no great hopes for the US. We are in decline and refuse to accept it. It’s sad.

Steve Forbes just said that something to look out for is - Biden likely still resents Obama not endorsing him. so if anyone makes moves to replace Harris, Biden just might resign the presidency, which would make Harris, as president, much more difficult to dislodge. Obama is not endorsing Harris, either, he is advocating for an open convention.

This is getting to look just like Dallas. With vastly less attractive and vastly more venal people. Or maybe Succession, come to think of it, because EVERYONE was an asshole on Succession, and I really really liked Sue Ellen. I am referring to TV shows because it seems obvious to me that none of this is even remotely related to the real life or wishes of American citizens. A circus, not open to the public.

I'm doubting MSNs sources here. FEC says it's campaign funds 'May be transferred without limitation to any national, State, or local committee of any political party" https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-11/chapter-I/subchapter-A/part-113/section-113.2#113-2

While the rest of you are focussed on the candidates for the US election, it is necessary to step back and have a look at the bigger picture. Over the past months while thousands of Gazans were being murdered; one interesting observations was made: in excess of 90 percent of the Israeli people were in favour of what was going on in Gaza. Imagine that !!! And while you fulminate on the relative demerits of the candidate; all this was made possible by the US government.

The routine excuse advanced for dropping all those US-supplied bombs that killed (and continue to kill) so many innocents: somewhere in their midst lurked a Hamas 'terrorist'. This coming from a nation that has proven itself to rank as the most mendacious in living memory - closely followed by the US.

The Republicans and Democrats have proved to be of the same ilk; namely that they do not represent the people. The US and Israeli governments have also proved to be of the same ilk; no longer fit to be represented in the community of nations.

Quite apart from the effort to murder so many innocents; their mendacity extends to the destruction of the system of laws so carefully constructed by the world at such great cost. Their mendacity extends even to the english language and insults the intelligence of all of humanity.

You; the American people; must do something to change this because, in the long run; your very nation is at stake. Will you prove equal to the task ? I suspect not.
