I don't deny the fact of climate CHANGE, for I've seen the climate, flora and fauna change where I have lived. The Earth is definitely getting warmer overall. It's idiotic to say otherwise.

I deny that the proposed solutions for the problems caused by changing climate are effective in any way, shape, or form. I think they are all grifting operations.

Look, the elites aren't worried about climate change. THEY don't see it as a threat; only an opportunity to increase their profits and expand their power. If they were worried, they'd sacrifice private jets and Air Force jets flying over football games.

Instead, they expect the rest of us to buy unaffordable electric cars that cause just as much global warming as oil in their manufacture and don't charge when it gets cold. They expect us to give up gasoline-powered lawnmowers and natural gas ovens. One continental jet flight emits more greenhouse gases than me driving gasoline-powered cars and using gasoline lawnmowers my entire life.

If they were serious about clean energy, they'd be pushing nuclear energy and dumping gazillions into fusion energy research. They aren't, of course, because they're still all connected to Big Oil. Who is investing in this green energy? Oil companies! Never, ever trust an oil man.

We must adapt to the changing climate, but I strongly disagree with the assumption that we must therefore return to a 17th Century lifestyle while the ruling class lives in an electrified Mount Olympus, which is where all this is going.

Loved the pic of the Yosemite waterfall! Made my day along with Medhurst and others' analysis of the Galloway victory....like hinting at the possibility of Galloway's having some coat-tails. In other news of inspirations, just read a Pepe Escobar analysis entitled The Axis of Asymmetry Takes on the 'Rules Based Order'...found in the 'Cradle' and no doubt other posts from the usual suspects - well worth a read....Cheers everyone!

"Clearly, allowing voters to make decisions in a democracy is the worst thing that can possibly happen to democracy. "

Oh, no! Not "outbreaks of democracy" in the UK and possibly in the US. Whatever will the oligarchy do if the workers are well-represented? I don't know, but they're not going to like it. (Good!!) Thanks for the great insights.

Brother West has figured out a steady retirement plan, which includes guest spots in the age of Aquarius, or memoirs & lectures. I never imagined thinking so little of Bernie Sanders and him long ago..., Hooray for George Gallaway. I look forward to seeing Prime Minister Sunak melt away like an m&m.... NOW I know what a fire fall is... BRILLIANT candle in the end, OB. 🔥

If only the American left would have the cajones to stand up and fight, push back and call out the ruling class the way Galloway does. The Dude gives no quarter. Instead we have posers and self-indulgent grifters like Sanders and West. West has really demolished himself. With every interview he circles further down the drain. His 'plantation' smear of Jimmy Dore and the guys at RBN is truly Trumpian. Until this week I was not aware of the scale of community-based mutual aid programs RBN is involved in. Those young men are doing good work for change while West pontificates and demeans.

As the government tips further into war and even more money will be sucked into the MIC, such mutual aid work is going to become more essential. In my NE Wisconsin community I work with a seed library to get free vegetable gardening seeds out to people. If anyone is interested in starting a similar effort in their community they can contact me.

There are some informal mutual aid networks around here. There's already an underground economy based on barters, favors, and referrals in depressed NE Ohio; I do know of two community gardens not all that many miles away.

Plus, we have the Amish. They're VERY active in providing goods and services away from the eye of the tax man.

Cornel West? Well, he has sure shown his true colors. Kurt Metzger once said that academics made the very worst political leaders. West has certainly done nothing to counter that observation.

I had a number of Amish neighbors where I used to live in SE Wisconsin. Over the years, I had them build furniture and two outbuildings and other projects like built-in cabinets. When I first worked with them I told the patriarch that my goal was at the end of a project for me to be happy and them to be happy. He said, "That's what we want too."

Eventually, it got to the point where I didn't even ask them for a bid on a project because I knew they would do right, and they always did. I was never once shocked by the final bill or problems with their work. I was loyal to them and they were loyal to me.

Imagine if corporate America could wrap their thick noggins around that kind of thinking.

From the U.S. State Department

On the Retirement of Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland - Anthony Blinken / State Department, Mar 5 2024

Victoria Nuland has let me know that she intends to step down in the coming weeks as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs – a role in which she has personified President Biden’s commitment to put diplomacy back at the center of our foreign policy and revitalize America’s global leadership at a crucial time for our nation and the world.

Toria’s tenure caps three and a half decades of remarkable public service under six Presidents and ten Secretaries of State. Starting with her very first posting as a consular officer in Guangzhou, China, Toria’s had most of the jobs in this Department. Political officer and economic officer. Spokesperson and chief of staff. Deputy Assistant Secretary and Assistant Secretary. Special Envoy and Ambassador.

These experiences have armed Toria with an encyclopedic knowledge of a wide range of issues and regions, and an unmatched capacity to wield the full toolkit of American diplomacy to advance our interests and values.

What makes Toria truly exceptional is the fierce passion she brings to fighting for what she believes in most: freedom, democracy, human rights, and America’s enduring capacity to inspire and promote those values around the world. These were the principles that drove Toria when we first met more than 30 years ago. They are the same principles she has brought to her work as Under Secretary, and as Acting Deputy Secretary of State – a role she filled seamlessly for seven months.

Over the past three years, Toria has led this Department on everything from addressing complex crises in the Sahel, Haiti, and the Middle East, to broadening and strengthening America’s alliances and partnerships across Europe and the Indo-Pacific.

But it’s Toria’s leadership on Ukraine that diplomats and students of foreign policy will study for years to come. Her efforts have been indispensable to confronting Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, marshaling a global coalition to ensure his strategic failure, and helping Ukraine work toward the day when it will be able to stand strongly on its own feet – democratically, economically, and militarily.

There is so much to admire about Toria beyond her diplomatic skill. She always speaks her mind – to my benefit and to the benefit of our foreign policy. She always stands up for and invests in America’s diplomats – mentoring them, lifting them up, and ensuring they and their families have what they deserve, and what our mission demands. She finds light in the darkest moments, makes you laugh when you need it most, and always has your back.

President Biden and I have asked our Under Secretary for Management John Bass to serve as Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs until Toria’s replacement is confirmed.

We are so grateful for Toria’s service, and for the lasting mark she’s made on this institution and the world.

Bernard at MoA calls Victoria Nuland, "The Cookie Monster!" The U.S. State Department calls Nuland, "Toria!" Toria is a close resemblance to 'Toro' which is Bull in Spanish. I do not know what to call Nuland except for, "Don't let the screen door hit you in the butt! Further, don't come back..."

Heads are exploding and rats are leaving the sinking ship.
