"The Pentagon, in the form of an unnamed US official, said if the Israel-Iran War goes on for much longer, both US and Israeli supplies of ballistic missile interceptors will be so depleted as to be “horrendous.”
Oh dear, what a shame. I heard this morning on the Sanchez Effect show (on RT) that Iran has enough missiles to keep going for six months.
That figure is very likely accurate. Right now, the Iranians are mostly throwing their old stuff to deplete the Israeli missile defenses. Then, if and when Israel and/or the US keep escalating, they'll use their new stuff to much better effect.
The strategy is obvious, and the Pentagon knows it.
This isn't about WMD and not about Netanyahu.....if the US had not liked what Netanyahu was doing he would have been regime changed long ago...To think the war criminal is not only allowed to come into the US, he is celebrated at the highest levels of government.....This is about neutralizing BRICS....As I argued last week before the Israeli strikes, WWIII had started long ago, due to nuclear weapons it's now done through proxies as well as economics.........It's the 'rules based order' against the rest of the world....
Yep, it is all about economics i.e. another bankers war.
What Israel has done to Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt was to tap down their economies to one product, if anything at all. This makes the Middle East ripe for corruption and criminal activity. With Iran having a multi-facilitated energy base means they can produce hard products for sale around the world. This would decrease Israeli leverage by ten fold.
Of course it's the settler colonial lens through which Israel is looking at this project....The larger geo-political interests are the alliances between Iran and Russia and China and the linkages between the Persian Gulf and the Eurasian 'heartland' (a la MacKinder: who rules the heartland rules the world)....Britain and by extension the anglo world order have long coveted Iran/Afghanistan for their resources - Russophobia was a propaganda tool crafted in the mid 19th century during the Crimean Wars...Britain long feared imperial Russia's threat to its sea-power based empire in southwest Asia. Today's Iran connects the land-bridge from Eurasia, a cheaper faster form of connectivity than that through the sea-power based West...Israel is a Middle East bastion to protect the West's connectivity-resources....On a related but mutually exclusive note - post WWI *creation* of Israel (Balfour, etc) was at the time (Churchill influence) that Britain was converting its navy from coal/steam to combustion engine.
Some of it is, sure, but it isn't working very well, as indicated in my first little story. That changes nothing regarding the fact that an Iran War would be VERY unprofitable for both Big Oil and today's MIC.
The "Rules-based order" sounds good until it's about to severely depress you stock portfolio, you know.
BRICS would have and will have a greater impact on stock port folios than the rules based order which at the end of the day preserves US-British led hegemony.
But it’s not going to cut off almost a quarter of the global oil supply and sink aircraft carriers, either. BRICS is far less of an immediate threat than is Israel.
But I would argue the global oil supply cut-off hurts the people at the bottom - not the financial elites. A global economy restructuring on the other hand is longer term and permanent.
Hi Everyone, hoping your life is serving you well...
Well, first and foremost: OB, congrats on your retirement. Further, my wish is you find peace and love during your "golden years." (please notice the scare quotes and lowercase letters) But, remember the first rule of being in your "golden years", do not allow a person to piss on your leg and tell you it's raining. Now, you as a Senior Person are given an extra allowance to be cranky and opinionated. This means you can now tell a uniformed hitler youth type to go "stuff it!". "just do it", at an effective opportune moment in front of a crowd with the cameras rolling. Your family will be proud of you (sure thing pops)...
About that protest sign, namely the green drink you took a picture of. Besides of the fact that most mixed drinks were created during the Prohibition Years, the only green drink I know of is called a grasshopper. Now, being a Senior Person myself, if I loving call you grasshopper, I am saying you are new to a subject or event. So maybe there is a little more to that sign than what appeared at first glance. (Fool me once, fill in the blank)
Onto world events:
Like Biden, people are quickly tiring of Trump's and Nutty Yahoo's (however you spell his adoptive name) SHIT. Donny Boy (Trump) had a multi-million dollar suck day last weekend. In the first hours, he took credit for being a major player in a major stupid war. Then had a parade in which all of the actors were financially compensated. It was the only reason they were there and it showed. Only Donny Boy was not through. He had a phone call with Uncle Putin who took his butt to the woodshed. But Donny Boy was not the big show of the day. The big show was ten millions taking time off Saturday to make signs and show up in a public square collectively saying, "Our Leadership Sucks the Big One." It does not get anymore straight forward than that.
Once again I wish everyone the best... Peace and Love!
I know that's rough. I never lived in Europe, but I did visit Sarajevo around 1980. That felt so weird watching it be destroyed. I had some really good times there.
Good stuff OB. Trump's constant shouting that Iran mustn't get nukes, alongside Netanyahoo's baseless insistence that she's close to success, have somehow managed to convince me that that's EXACTLY what needs to happen. Iran needs to get nukes precisely in order to deter further Zionist aggression. It's the clearest path to short- to-medium-term peace. The good news is that Iran, as we see, already has unstoppable hypersonic delivery systems. Furthermore, Israel is a relative postage stamp, so tactical warheads would probably suffice. I don't see why Iran couldn't obtain a few from China, which relies heavily on Persian Gulf oil and has every incentive to help Iran keep the region from falling under western control.

I guess it takes a squid to really get some yucks out of this statement.
Thanks, OB for a good start on a rainy day.
"Come on, vets, when grunts march like squids you know shit’s fucked up."
I oughta know. I was a squid. We took pride in not marching in step.
I remember you saying that. Yup, we didn't gaf.

I get to be MORE cranky and opinionated? Cool.
Grasshoppers are for pussies. No wonder I didn't recognize it.
Stellar effort. Israel delenda est, as always.
Dnepropetrovsk Oblast is where I spent a lot of my time in Ukraine.
Yah. Good thing you're not there now.
I know that's rough. I never lived in Europe, but I did visit Sarajevo around 1980. That felt so weird watching it be destroyed. I had some really good times there.
Yes, the town is having missile / bomb strikes, though not our neighborhood.

Israel must be destroyed, not financed by US!
