You know, I have been following you despite my initial reservations. This is actual work done for the people. All this great writing stuff here. That is fine. But... you mention the Palestinians, you mention batshit crazy terrorists around Aleppo, and you fail to mention Hamas at all. Palestinians cannot criticize Hamas for fear of their lives, right? So, the thing is this. You need "leaven" your bread a little, dude. The Irish have "genuinely good" persons too. Every group on earth has good persons and bad. The Palestinians seem like great folks. Um ---- what about Hamas?
So - terrorism is not agreeing with you? That's a handy little device. I don't believe Substack is being curated by outside organizations as yet, so you may just want to skip the substacks that do not fall into your lines.
Substack won't let me give a long answer for some reason, so you may get two. I won't condemn Hamas for the same reason I won't condemn the Comanche for torturing my great uncle to death, or my great-grandpa and him for settling on Comanche land after they lost everything in the American Civil War.
It isn't my place to sit back and judge desperate people for doing desperate things when they are being systematically eliminated. Hamas has two other choices--meekly die or accept permanent exile. I wouldn't accept those anymore than the Comanche did. The Israelis, OTOH, do have a choice, and they chose the worst one.
Actually the act of killing those persons is pretty bad. But this was not my real intent... I think Hamas was not worthy of support --- not ever. These persons are political, in the worst sense. So it is HAMAS ITSELF whom I do NOT like. How's that for clarity????
Then you need to file a complaint with Netanyahu. The Israelis financed Hamas for years. Netanyahu himself said any Israeli would be a fool not to. This is old news. It was reported years ago, and again shortly after October 7.
No, the Israelis saw it. Hamas, being religious as they are, made better Bad Guys Who Must Be Destroyed than the secular PLO did. At least that’s my theory.
Now wait, the Israelis are the Bad Guys to you, right? So how did they see other bad guys???? Bad Guys do not think they are Bad Guys. They thought they were Good Guys. My MASTER THEORY: the US military, Hamas, and the IDF are all EXACTLY the SAME THING! Yeah, that is a thought I have been getting off and on but I don't usually mention this.
djean, these comments (of yours) are way off... Try understanding what's going on. Two intelligent persons are trying to communicate, it's Mr. Barbarian and Mr. Silverman. Enter when you understand not when you don't. best, Jacob
I know I am supposed to feel chastened or whatever, I don't, but disagreeing with someone is different than telling someone how they should post in the first place. Like, say, telling someone they have to post about Hamas. Cheers, Jacob!
You’re not allowed to deem yourself intelligent, that’s for other people to conclude. I would say that nobody believes you’re intelligent, simply based on the words that come out of your mouth.
The UK seems sort of dreadful now. Between the assisted suicide and the scary stories that trickle out about the treatment of older people during Covid, and the arrests being made over postings on social platforms, it occurs to me that when a long distance relationship did not work out about ten years ago, I may have dodged a bullet or two or three.
That kitten is lucky that FEMA was not in charge of rescuing it.
While I am beyond thrilled that Harris did not win, I think Trump is going to have quite a wake-up call on foreign policy. He seems to think he can disband or disenfranchise BRICS or something like that, if the dollar is threatened. Making America great again will not mean that America gets to run the world like a pool table any more, IMO. The dollar is threatened because the US weaponized it using sanctions. Why not try dropping all the sanctions. Hopefully he will not try and Gaddafi every head of state that wants to create a new currency.
Hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a nice one. My sister ranted about Trump for thirty minutes when I called her. Even though I am on record as disliking both "choices". Oh well.
I agree wholeheartedly with your observation about Trump thinking he can disband or disenfranchise BRICS. This is a train that can not be stopped, and it got going not just because the US weaponised the dollar using sanctions, it goes much further than that; going back to the point when countries around the world realised that the reserve currency was, and is, being used to finance ALL US wars as long ago as the Korean war and everything since. This abuse of the financial trust by the rest of the world in the US is what is being addressed by BRICS (and not before time !!!).
Underpinning the entire history of the US is one, yes one, simple fact; a lack of accountability !! and you can see this in everyday actions carried out by US politicians - you just have to have the eyes to see it.
You might think, given the above, that I am rabidly anti US but I am not. My late partner was jewish from NYC and she would be mortified by the criminality displayed by the US and Israel over the past 12 months. I believe I know better, that criminality has been in play going back to 1948.
Nah, poor Jacob doesn’t get it. Not. At. All. Valiant efforts to no avail, folks. Best let him slink off somewhere else to moralize about the positives of imperial genocide and blame the victims thereof.
Good advice. I'll take it. I only removed one comment to @djean111, but she's been with me since the old JPR days. She's quite capable of taking care of herself, but as she said, it's my Substack and there are some things I have little tolerance for.

I think yoyu need a lesson in human nature, brother. If you steal my land and kill my family, guess what? I will act just like Hamas. Get it?
So okay, this is absolute garbage and just the sort of thing I was worried about getting. This IS the terrorism.

I read one, in something called the Irish Times. I was, frankly, amazed. The Israelis failed to see Hamas as I did. https://www.irishtimes.com/world/middle-east/2023/12/12/buying-quiet-inside-the-israeli-plan-that-propped-up-hamas/

The only substack that you get to determine the content of would be your own substack. Not anyone else's substack.

It appears that you think I was telling Mr. Barbarian how to post? This is a really weird conversation. He writes his own content, I believe.
You’re not allowed to deem yourself intelligent, that’s for other people to conclude. I would say that nobody believes you’re intelligent, simply based on the words that come out of your mouth.
I talk to persons who make sense; I don't talk to persons like you. Good luck with life, Foreskin!
Great list as always, thanks, OB!

Damn, your work is so fine it beggars my intellect and makes me so proud to have been born a Buckeye.
