Since Elon Musk says killing a CEO is bad, but letting people die by withholding health care is just good responsible business, I do not have any hopes, just am interested in what new or revamped bullshit will be rained down on us.
I've already had it. So have you. So have most of us, which means that the worse that will happen will be similar to a bad cold. Admittedly, at our age that's something to be a little worried about, but we both know the tried and true remedies as well.

Hoping to cheer myself up, I just read Dave Barry's 2024 year in review. For the first time ever, and ya know I am a huge Dave Barry fan, it is mostly just depressing snark. The bits about Boeing are pretty funny, though. It is just that the rampant awfulness is now just ordinary everyday life in the US.
I used to read Dave Barry all the time (thinking it's been about 20 years, so maybe I read him up until moving to PA). I wonder as things go "to press" - What is left to be said? It has to be what you've read - depressing snark. Who or what can "citizens" (more like denizens) actually do to remain part of the process when our entire matrix has been poisoned with a giant sucking sound of anything one is capable of "putting away for the future" when the message is... "Your future is a lie". I can't even find an open channel of communication to think what I'd weigh in on MATTERS! Oh, sorry... that didn't cheer up a damn thing. AAAUUUGH!
What a year it's been! Here's hoping for some break from the madness in this new year. (I'm not holding my breath any. And I definitely know about dropping income, too. Sigh!)

I am thinking that just assuming that everything - EVERYTHING - is a lie intended to cover up something or to siphon away money is the best way to go.
