Good luck with the repairs. I've been there without a working heater during winter so I know how awful that can be. We're still under flood warnings as well, but fortunately us po' folks we can't afford river front properties or basements.
I'm at least 600 feet higher than the nearest creek. It was the sewer line to the street backing up for some still unknown reason. And even po folks in Ohio often have basements, just so you know.
I realize I'm better off than many, but we're not exactly living in the lap of luxury and our one car is 13 years old. Amazing what basic maintenance can sometimes do, but that's a future problem in the works.
Sorry to hear that; it was raining hard here in Toronto, but no flooding. So far the drains are keeping up with the rain. Glad the water heater survived. Wish the same for the furnace. Winter is not over yet; not for another couple of weeks.
GOOD LUCK! We just celebrated living here in SW PA 26 years. Of course, the last 20 years, I've been renovating and the last thing was a gravel (well done gravel) driveway because we are gonna have some storm water issues with these older homes in the windy, hilly Pittsburgh area. It's a fact, Jack! I hope you guys come through this okay.
Lol, thanks. We had to scramble to find an old motel built in maybe 1948 at the latest on US HWY 20 a few miles east. The insurance company could find none because all the nice ones are booked for the eclipse. What luck I have, eh?
At least we can check in on the cats daily. Poor things.
Insurance will pay for that and damages, that's the good news. The bad is that our savings will still be wiped out by the deductible and the repairs that are not covered but must be done.
Thanks for all the good wishes in the wake of my Basement Disaster. I'll be writing a post on how great the plumbers and the HVAC guys were, and even the claims adjuster. Plus how this happened the day after I found out the Biden Regime and the Congress moved the date I can get my full Social Security another 7 months.
If you're in your 60s, better check the new retirement age. Forbes first wrote about it 3/29 or 3/30. I can't write about it now because I know too many interesting historical methods of execution AND I'm still angry about it.
Hope it goes well, and that there's not too much damage. Good luck with all the repairs.
Sorry to hear this. I hope everything goes well! Good luck
Not fun - wishing for an easy fix!!
Sorry! It flooding here too.
Hang in, OB. It’ll pass.

And I thought our sewer lines in this town were bad. :( I hope it's fixed soon.
Our one car is 18 years old (going on 19). It was my mom's. I hope we can change it over to an electric engine someday

Russia? China? CIA?
Lol. No, just age and inability to afford preventive maintenance.
Good luck man.
Sorry to hear this OB, but as you being an old Navy guy I have the utmost confidence in you to deal with this frustrating problem.
