Some of us long recognized Biden and his soup for brains - you may recall my almost daily Bidenisms on a great forum during the Presidential campaign.
Russia has also just identified the US as a police state. Why? Scott Ritter, on orders from the State Department, was pulled off a plane and had his passport taken as he was heading to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
I do recall those Bidenisms of yours, and how it made everyone laugh.
I did not know about Scott Ritter. They're really overreaching now. The Russians aren't ones to miss a good line, are they?
There was an American president well-known for that in the 1930s and 40s. Oddly enough, Vladimir Putin is far closer to being the Russian FDR than Joe Biden is of being...ANY Roosevelt.
I watched judge Napolitano interview Scott Ritter on YouTube today. Ritter had called Napolitano and warned him away from the airport, since Napolitano was going to the same conference in Russia.
Ritter explained the actual nuclear war plan of the US and now I am angry as fuck and scared as fuck.
Yes, me too. I read what the Russians have said about nuclear red lines and their automated responses if necessary. The F-16s would cross them as they are nuclear capable, and the Ukrainian attacks on Russian nuclear warning systems cross a red line.
Joe Biden is much, much, much worse than I ever thought possible. I have both family and friends in Ukraine and Russia, not to mention in the US. I hope I still do next January when hopefully a different President will be in office!!
Hi dissafectedboomer! I understand all too well. My family member previously had a drone attack in their neighborhood and sent me footage of the smoke from Crocus from their flat, and I got my family from central Ukraine here.
So, yes, enough comments from NAFO etc. on posts elsewhere, and trying to be cautious, but with enough travel to Ukraine and Russia, I suspect I'm on three government lists.
I try to be cautious, but over the years I know I'm not cautious enough.
Hey djean111, I ghost through here now and then. As a fan of Mr. Ritter, I have been scared as fuck for weeks now. I spent my entire monthly hour with my therapist today discussing the potential for a nuke holocaust. He's a nice guy but he sorta poo-poos my concerns and wants me to find ways to calm my anxieties about this. I strongly disagreed. When and where we can, it is up to us to set the record straight. History is our sword in this matter. At some point soon there has to be a tipping point where the capitalist controlled governments have no choice but to bend to the will of the citizenry. I have kept fighting the good fight online and been labeled a Puttin Puppet for it.Frankly I think Putin has been one of the very few adults in the room. I will be voting for Trump not because I agree with Republicans but because I think that he is willing to negotiate with Putin. His detractors label him a traitor for this. Ifso, was President Kennedy a traitor for negotiating with Kruschev? Conversely was President GHW Bush a traitor for negotiating with Priemier Gorbachev which led to the short term ending of the Cold War? My greatest concerns are regarding war with especially fears about Nukes. This aged Hippy recalls an old poster that read: War is not good for children and other living creatures. Oh boy, do I agree!
I'm with you - I'll also vote Trump, if it's possible, this election. Why? The destruction of Ukraine with the agreement of my Ukrainian wife who has watched the horrific escalation of the civil war over the last decade.
Hey JBNW. It warmed my heart back when you reported that you had managed to get your family out of the current combat region. I have heard that the Ukranian military is actively hunting for male refugees in foreign countries aging from 16-60. If that's not all the proof that we need that Zelensky and co. are failing badly then what is?!! Evens, my fears are for the kids of our planet. They had zero say-so regarding the West's Unipolar madness. Frankly, I don't know what Trump will do if we survive long enough for him to become President again. That said, President Biden and his co-horts have shown us exactly where their geopolitical choices are... and they are not with the citizenry of our planet. Good hearing from you sir.
I'm glad to hear from you too! The wife and daughter have been here almost two years now, and even if it rains too much they are liking it, especially since the Pacific coast is only a few hours drive. Fortunately family members left in Ukraine are female or above draft age.
Khrushchev put nukes in Cuba because the US put nukes in Turkey AND was trying its best to invade Cuba. The nukes in Turkey have been mostly left out of history books.
According to Ritter, the US fully expects to lose a lot of us mere peasants in a nuclear war, and intends to wreak atomic havoc on enough other populous countries to ensure the US is still Number One, in the radioactive ashes. Which would explain the 800-1000 bases all over the world.
If they call you a Putin puppet, feel honored.I’ve been called a Russian bear so many times it’s old stuff now.Recently I lost my temper and charged my brother in law for calling me a Putin proponent because I don’t back the war. It’s easier to avoid people now than put up with the crap they spew.
Both parties are puppets of the Oligarchy that would prefer the R party be in charge. That way the R Party gets all the blame for the people losing out while the Dems tell their sheepy followers that if they only had power they would fix everything. The followers have short memories that neither, Clinton, Obama nor Biden actually fixed anything. Wait you say, Biden put a cap on one drug for a limited number of people. What more should we expect. I do wonder that if Trump wants a revolution and turns the Proud Boys (Brown Shirts) loose, who will they attack? Certainly not the Dem sheep hiding under their beds, and not the Lefty peaceful protestors, the police already have that covered.
I was explaining to my grandson the other day how the GOP does bad shit, and the Dems don't ever fix the bad shit, they just use it as campaign material. I think he finally gets it.
Trump doesn't want a revolution. He wants attention and large, adoring crowds. Besides, the Proud Boys are so infiltrated by the FBI by now that if they attack anyone, it'll probably be pro-Palestine protesters, with the police standing by and doing nothing.
As for those who are still Democrats, I don't see much point in reaching out to cultists. You know what that's like; we both saw that on Democratic Underground back in the day. Speaking of DU, take a gander sometime. The Gaza genocide has really thrown a monkey wrench into their whole party unity thing. It's no surprise, I suppose; the whole rank-and-file Party is affected.
But if a Democrat cultist reaches out to me, I can at least tell them that I, too, was once a proud Democrat. I was younger then, and much more naive.
I remember DU. A few years ago I tried to pretend I was one of them but I couldn't pull it off. Do you remember Steven Leser? He posts on FaceBook but doesn't allow comments. I think Trump would like the attention of leading a revolution but none of the work. The Proud Boys that aren't FBI are probably off duty police.
A major reason Jimmy Carter did so poorly against Reagan is that he had already started the deregulation frenzy to curb the power of the teamsters union. Thousands lost jobs and big labor did very little in resonse, being inthrall to business unionism
Yes, Carter started the ball rolling by deregulating airlines and the trucking industry, but had it not been for rampant inflation and the Iranian hostage crisis, he probably would have been re-elected.
The Teamsters endorsed Reagan in 1980, remember? I know they did it out of revenge against Carter, but their predecessors a couple of generations before would have founded a Labor Party or something before endorsing an anti-labor Republican. You're right that the unions had been corrupted by then.
Yeah, we know all this; some from painful experience.
The Dem Party is dragging their window to the right, and the GrabitOllParty is dragging theirs toward the Russian right. Reagan/Dole territory vs Orban/Putin territory.
Here's the thing, tho': those windows don't match up with material conditions in most of 2024 America.
That's why the two competing regimes are getting more aggressive about controlling the discourse, both internally and in general. They must.
Because the one thing universally feared among all capitalist politics' strange bedfellows is a left party that knows what it's doing. That can present its ideas fairly, and compete on equal terms in the electorate.
They'll let any fringe-niche right-wing concatenation form and contend, but not the left.
The left is the only faction forbidden its own direct vehicle in American politics...and it's the only faction in all American politics that's growing.
Predatory capitalism creates more leftists every month than the best-executed marketing plan ever could; and Haywood's "marks of capital" are all over a vast number of people.
So when will we stop f$%#ing around and form a party that gives the left a real home?
None of the contenders are up to the job, for various reasons; but soon something is gonna have to be.
I like everything about that reply except the reference to Putin. Russia has absolutely nothing to do with any domestic American politics. There is exactly zero hard evidence that the Russian government has done anything to meddle, and the only Russians who did anything had one lame troll farm. Don't fall for US Empire propaganda there.
As for forming a new party, well, we can't under the current system. It would be demonized and infiltrated before it could ever legally make the ballot. We cannot vote our way out of this. There will be either a collapse, a successful revolution of some sort, and/or a civil war. I see no way around that, and I'm about to turn 66, so revolution isn't my first choice.
But here we are. I have to call it as I see it, not as how I would like it to be.
I'm aware of your feelings toward the present Russian regime. Their ties to Republicans and the farther right are not speculation; as evidenced by the affair involving the NRA and the appearance of Republican Party legislators in Moscow on July 4th a couple years back. The US right and UR Party are very much birds of a feather, and flock not infrequently.
In regards to a left party, perhaps we have begun, as late 20th Century Americans, to limit our imaginations of a political party too often to merely electoral use. A party can serve several useful social functions as well; as they often do in places like Brazil, or Spain, or Pakistan or other places. The left can do this where the right cannot; as the right's ideology (at least pointing downward) relies upon atomization, cultivated misanthropy and suspicion of all by all.
That attitude has reached its logical end, and the young in particular are weary of how bleak it is, and the sterility of life under it.
This of course drives the right insane with panicked loathing; and I'm beginning to think the neoliberal Democrats loathe it too. Hence the frantic attempts to prevent a left of any organized structure from beginning- as it will gradually erode, and then wash away most of the peevish walls they have been erecting against any future they do not control.
Good points on how a new party can be helpful. That's fine, so long as it is active all the time, and not just for President every four years like the Greens have done.
I see nothing wrong with talking to the Russians, or visiting Russia. A glance at a globe shows they are not our natural enemies by any means, and they have yet to ever attack us, not even by proxy.
We have to find a way to get along with those people. That is most definitely in our national interests. The same goes for China. It's way past time to give up the delusion that America is the world's hegemon.
The fundamental flaw of political people (especially on the left, unfortunately) is the belief that you organize *only* for power, electorally, that to be deliverable in the near-term.
The strongest group politics are created through affinity; which must come first before anything else. Strength of affinity is how unions are won, for example; workplaces with low conditions of affinity among the workforce rarely ever succeed in winning a union. The left needs affinity more than theory or charismatic leadership or anything else; and because modern technological capitalism has conspired to starve so many of it, the conditions are both harder and more ripe to create it than ever before.
Affinity is how ideology is spread, including class consciousness; but it has to be built first. Idpol is the ruling class's attempt to head off class consciousness by hijacking and redirecting affinity towards dead-end, unresolvable struggles that sap our energy.
The rulers know how important Affinity is, why's it so hard for the left to get it as well?
Not trying to deceive you in any way whatsoever. Just stating my beliefs. Which of course I have always been free to do. Neither one of us can actually change anything at this point, IMO and all that.
If you vote at all--unless possibly in a local election for which you can count the ballots for yourself--you're lending credibility to whichever fascist stooge who gets to say "I got a mandate from the voters" after your vote was electronically flipped TO him/her and FROM whoever you actually voted for. https://www.thepolemicist.net/2016/09/strike-vote.html
I was looking right at the Ohio returns showing Kerry in the lead in 2004 when the numbers flipped. All of the sudden, Bush was in the lead with 95% of the vote or something counted.
Plus all the high school kids who could program a voting machine, yeah, I know. I don't tell anyone to go vote. That doesn't mean I don't think people shouldn't be politically active and vocal, or even shouldn't organize a new party. It does mean I know that voting alone will not fundamentally change this corrupt system in which we live.
I like to call the Democrats agenda as “Authoritarianism with a smile”. The Republicans tell you they are going to screw you, and the Democrats smile into your face and stick a knife into your ribs.

EU, G7, NATO, Zelensky? All puppets of the US Empire, and all absolutely freaking out over Biden's performance. Take a look at BBC, France24, and DW. It's really pretty funny. Like they never noticed he had dementia before.
Some of us long recognized Biden and his soup for brains - you may recall my almost daily Bidenisms on a great forum during the Presidential campaign.

I think there are more like us than we will ever know. I think your great grandparents would be honored if people knew.
My dad was a Pearl Harbor survivor - he would be horrified by this craziness.
I've been to the Eternal Flame in Moscow to show respect. I think more Americans should see it.

Of course, the Dems destroyed Ukraine and are funding genocide and are setting up a war with China.
I miss the Democrats when they were anti-war - but I think that was 50 years ago.
They are, just as neocons are the same people as neoliberals; they just wear different-colored ties sometimes.
Good catch! You've noticed that, too, eh? Whenever some politician wants to look all bipartisany, they wear a purple tie or scarf or something.
Pity George Carlin's not still around to say something about that.
Trump doesn't want a revolution. He wants attention and large, adoring crowds. Besides, the Proud Boys are so infiltrated by the FBI by now that if they attack anyone, it'll probably be pro-Palestine protesters, with the police standing by and doing nothing.

I like to call the Democrats agenda as “Authoritarianism with a smile”. The Republicans tell you they are going to screw you, and the Democrats smile into your face and stick a knife into your ribs.
Absolutely. That’s why the Democrats are more loathsome—they pretend to be better.
Perfectly said!!

The only thing that gives me hope for the future of American government is the fact that Gen-Z people have demonstrated so much intestinal fortitude in opposing Israeli genocide. Extend this to cleaning out your Congress and Senate and you then have potential for recovering your democracy. It would be nice to see the development of organisations to oppose AIPAC and a good first target would be people like Lindsey Graham. When people take that oath against enemies foreign and domestic, that individual is the first to come to mind as your foremost domestic enemy. Its also worth remembering that it was Obama who gave you the senile old goat you have in the Presidency.
Republicans are no better.
You need a cleanout, root and branch not only of your political representatives but of your system of laws and Judicial structures who are part of the problem.

EU, G7, NATO, Zelensky? All puppets of the US Empire, and all absolutely freaking out over Biden's performance. Take a look at BBC, France24, and DW. It's really pretty funny. Like they never noticed he had dementia before.
