I don't know if Beth in New Mexico just pulled the plug on it--servers do eat up electricity and she was no longer interested in the site for very understandable reasons. She was never on it after Steve got sick. It's also possible that something technical went wrong and there was nobody left who had the ability to troubleshoot, much less fix, the problem.
People will believe what they are conditioned to believe until they think critically, OB. I'm mourning the loss of JPR at the moment, seeking alternate discussion, maybe getting behind Susie Dawson's Panquake soon, but I can't forget you, my friend and co-moderator. You do better here, so I'll save up and contribute. Fresh in my mind is JPR, which is gone for good and we couldn't even get a final good-bye... Those are my feelings today.
This is very sad to hear. I hope the reasons are finances, tech issues, or unsustainability, rather than the 4th Reich censors finally fulfilling PropOrNots dream of shutting up the few truth tellers left out here. I know I will always be around and am sure most of the others aren't going anywhere, we will just re-group and meet up elsewhere!

From what I get, the reasons ARE financial. It was just too much for Beth after Steve passed and Matt/deadpool came back to do some things for her, but basically was done with JPR after that. I feel that a JPR tribute should be forthcoming because the one thing deadpool could have done was say good-bye. It's still not too late, but I've had zero response. Time to upgrade my usefulness as a human @DDTuohy.
I agree and since I decided to start posting on c-99 (caucus99percent), I also responded in the "open thread" area in response to a post from someone unrecognized by me, but curious if anyone knew JPR. I explained in a very generic way its demise, which produced a response from one of the moderators there (JtC) this: @MrMickeysMom
If you'd like to write something up about JPR and publish it as an essay, I'll see to it that it gets promoted to the front page where it should get more eyeballs.
I'd like to know from you, if you recall what Steve did because I recall that his PhD was science related with a hell of a lot of research in what his expertise was. Can you email me that?

I don't think we were important enough to be shut down by anyone. Entropy, and ignorance of software on the part of us mods, are the primary culprits.
