I am currently seeing two camps - those who voted for Trump because of what they hope he can do,
and those who voted for Kamala because she would be the first woman president - plus, bonus - black! The most the Dems will admit to is that their messaging was off. Not their actual policies.
Finding out that a FEMA supervisor told volunteers from Homeland Security to skip over any homes in Florida that had Trump signs when going door to door to sign people up for aid after Milton (this is verified) has hardened my wizened little heart.
That's verified? That's LOW. Maybe even treasonous when you consider that general welfare clause of the Constitution.
You left out another camp; those of us who didn't vote at all this year. Add that to Trump's actual working class votes, and you get a STAGGERING majority who refused to support Harris, even though they KNEW it would mean Trump back in the WH.
Which means most Americans no longer watch or believe the legacy media. LOL. I saw that the Nielsen ratings for the legacy media barely got a bump this election season. That one appearance by Trump on Joe Rogan had FAR more impact on the election than Rachel Maddow lying about Russiagate for 8 years.
I have read that the employee has merely been reassigned and FEMA is looking for the whistleblower. Would not be surprised. Someone on Youtube said this - the Dems think they are morally superior, and therefore anything they do, no matter how low and despicable, is an acceptable means to their desired end. Like Albright's dismissal of 500,000 children's deaths due to US sanction in Iraq. Worth it. And - beyond the "moral superiority", IMO, is a deeper layer of monied and entitled control - even the rank and file are dupes.
That's where I saw it. Political Wire, I think it was Taegan Goddard's place, reprinted it and the comments were repulsive. Things like people who don't believe in democracy don't deserve help from the government.
I wonder when, or if, the details on the lack of Federal response and the destruction by the hurricane in North Carolina will come out. The stories on X are horrific - but hard to verify.
Democrats and the military industrial complex have a history of not knowing mirrors or reverse gears exist, or caring if they did. Look at the Middle East, Israel and now Ukraine.
The Dems only care about messaging, they do not intend to actually do anything to help people. The airwaves are full of Dems whinging that Kamala should have said this or that, Kamala should have LIED, no mention or intention of passing helpful legislation. Literally, every issue that concerns people is merely a campaign tool for the Dems.
Spot on. Every single word. ALL the Democrats are is a moneylaundering operation. They grifted billions for this campaign alone. They're already gearing up to terrify and grift from liberals for the next 4 years.
The thing is, this was a backlash election. It reminds me of 1980 more than anything else I've personally experienced. It doesn't take much to extend the analogy--if the Democrats continue with this empty, and false, ID politics and woke nonsense the next election map will look like 1984, when the Dems carried exactly one state.
Sigh - Substack is now a challenge with logins etc. Now to try in the right post -
Thank you for the great, and typically accurate, post. Now to wait and see what happens - I look forward to seeing an end of the war in Ukraine, though I don't think it'll be that easy as Joe Biden or his handlers are still sending billions to Ukraine. They just authorized send Americans to Ukraine to fix American weapons also - I thought boots on the ground required congressional authorization, but the Biden-Harris administration still has a few more months to destroy the world.
I asked Alexander Mercouris and he is of the opinion that more Ukrainian oblasts will choose to join Russia. We'll see if our flat ends up in Russia - it's on the border now.
Yes. My wife grew up in a peaceful part of the Soviet Union (Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic) and wouldn't object to being part of a thriving rather than destroyed country.
As an aside and forgive me for being off topic - just read an excellent novel by Alexei Tolstoy (distant cousin/nephew) of Leo.....It was completed in the 1930's I think but deals with two sisters against the backdrop of the WWI and the Russian Civil War - but much of it (i.e., Civil War) takes place in Ukraine-Russia....Russia made a made for TV series out of the novel entitled Road to Calvary (2017 and a 12 part series available on youtube) - ending changed somewhat from the novel but both TV series and novel are time well spent...But if you can find an English translation of that series, it's well worth a read and evokes emotions, etc., etc....this embodies what I had heard was Tolstoy's philosophy that it's not the generals who make history but everyday people.
I know well the challenge you are facing with substack and I have faced the same with gmail, yahoomail and youtube...I decided to just remain signed in to all of the above....supposedly it's for security but I don't believe that the owners care one whit about us the little people.
Thank you. Sabby Sabs had an excellent analysis of the ten reasons why the Democrats lost. The two issues that stick in my mind - although there are many -Ukraine/Palestine genocide being the most recent and egregious- were the media and Liz Cheney essentially the tip(s) of the iceberg.....Sadly, it seems that the Democratic Party wants to blame everyone but itself and by extension, I think it is incapable of learning from this debacle....I take heart in hoping that the people have learned from this and that they no longer have to identify with the prescribed narratives.
I should have mentioned Liz Cheney. How many Democratic voters stayed home because they couldn't force themselves to vote for someone endorsed by one of the old Asses of Evil, the Big Dick with No Heart himself?
I don't know, but I bet it was at least a couple million.
I first read OB's writing and that of some of the commentators here over at JPR. Found the place in 2016 looking for other Sanders supporters. To this day I still like his campaign platform and stump speeches; from that campaign and still think he got robbed in the MO democratic primary. He was leading in the polls, but Clinton won with 49.61% of the vote to Sander's 49.36%. I smelled shenanigans. Claire McCaskill was still a senator and good buddies with HRC. We'll never know for sure since Bernie refused to fight for the nomination.
In the last eight years the Democratic Party has proven itself to be the most tone deaf, oblivious to reality, bubble dwelling, utterly clueless pack of fools that has possibly ever existed. Their actions over the past 32 years have slowly destroyed their traditional working class support and they will never get it back. But they are too self absorbed to admit it and will blame the "dumb" voters for the party's demise.
I'll admit I am very nervous about what may happen with Trump back in the White House and the GOP controlling the Senate, and more than likely the House.. MO has been in control of Repubs (executive and legislature) for over 20 years. Over that time, state funding for public schools has dropped to 49th in the nation. (Schools also get federal and local property tax funds) Eighth grade reading achievement has dropped to 33rd in the nation. Our health stats are poor. Perhaps poor health and reading skills explain why we sent Christian Nationalist Josh Hawley back to the Senate, but also approved a reproductive rights amendment and $15 minimum wage. Cognitive dissonance anyone?
What a great description of today's Democratic Party. As we found out, they were no different in 2016; we just didn't know it yet. Now, they've removed all doubt as to how utterly worthless they are to a large majority of the American people.
I don't see how the party can survive in its current form. I also don't see them ever admitting they were in error. If that's true, they'll go the way of the Federalists and the Whigs, and good riddance to bad rubbish.
I’m just baffled as to how ANYONE could vote for Harris-Walz when she blatantly, basically said I will not do anything differently than Joe Biden(aka Genocide Joe) when it comes to the genocide in Gaza and the war in Ukraine, but you’re going to be able to get an abortion( I’m for a woman being able to get an abortion in certain circumstances, but not abortion on demand when one is 9 mos. pregnant). The Democrats really screwed up this time imho and I don’t support Trump’s stance on Israel, in fact I hate it. But I remember four years ago how I stayed in my room the whole day, practically, after it was announced that Genocide Joe would be the next president b/c I knew he would be horrible and as we all know he sure didn’t disappoint in that regard. At least now, maybe nuclear war has been averted, but I worry what will become of the Palestinians and the people in Lebanon? This is really scary/sad. I want the genocide to stop and I want a Free Palestine. 😢☮️🇵🇸
Thank you. The level of vitriol I am hearing from Kamala fans right now is astonishing- I mean, really hateful shit. I was happy Kamala lost, but really sad Trump won - these people are making me even happier she lost.
Damn, OB, you hit every point. I'd also add the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline -- the largest single act of eco-terrorism, ever -- to Biden's long, shameful list of inhuman crimes. There's one good thing out of this election and that is that the Dumb Dems are destroyed. Now let's hope Trump does the same to the GOP.
You can't have a "joyful genocide." Sociopaths aren't attractive candidates to voters with a conscience. Harris and company can't figure that out for some reason. Their hubris is phenomenal (and downright creepy).
Come on, you don't actually believe that at least 10 million voters choose this time round to stay home napping instead of vote. No, they were doing what they were doing four years ago: they were taking a big old dirt nap. Frankly, American presidential elections have been a really big joke ever since British Intelligence and the Kosher Nostra did whatever it took make sure the warmonger FDR was elected to an unprecedented third term.
Good analysis OB. I agree with much of that and you sure nailed it ahead of time. I'm sure the Dems lost a lot of votes because genocide is not a winning strategy (but nobody is talking about that in the legacy media or in the main of the parties).
I assume no one voted for Trump because they thought he'd be less genocidal against Palestinians- if they did that's a very low info voter: Ladies and gents I present Miriam Adelson, or Rudy Gulianni's speech at the Garden.
No, those folks went third party, or Fred Flintstone, or got wasted on craft IPAs, which they drank under the covers.
Edit: I just read you were one of the no voters, no offense. Did I capture your evening or were you glued to the screen as your prognostications unfolded?
Golly, do I remember Bill Clinton’s election in 1992... This is the time in life where I became a Perot supporter because I knew the “peace dividend” was phony and the giant sucking sound of jobs moving to Mexico wasn't. I tried to understand this by finding 2 volumes of the language of NAFTA, which I later sold in our garage sale before we moved to San Antonio. By mid 90's, my once belief in Hill-dog's healthcare system was pretty blown, and at the time wasn't ready for how much Clinton had sold us out. I noticed that hardly anyone cared.
What kills me now is that all the people in my camp of environmentalism are going through what I call detox... they share on Facebook all the TikTok opinions of how everyone's lost democracy and is being bullied. Without the details of understanding what has gone on during the last 3 to 4 years, I don't know where their focus as been, but it certainly wasn't on missing the lack of democracy.
Every word. Thanks!
I am currently seeing two camps - those who voted for Trump because of what they hope he can do,
and those who voted for Kamala because she would be the first woman president - plus, bonus - black! The most the Dems will admit to is that their messaging was off. Not their actual policies.

The Daily Wire of all places broke the story. Whistleblowers complained to upper management and leaked the receipts.
FEMA officials have acknowledged it was wrong and they do not support this behavior. Employee should be fired as this is gross dereliction of duty.
I have read that the employee has merely been reassigned and FEMA is looking for the whistleblower. Would not be surprised. Someone on Youtube said this - the Dems think they are morally superior, and therefore anything they do, no matter how low and despicable, is an acceptable means to their desired end. Oh, yes, sorry, I am in that no vote camp, too.
I heard Comcast is trying to sell MSNBC. Low ratings. Wonder if Maddow's $30 million contract will continue with a sale.
Yah, I think Business Insider had a piece on that. Either them or Forbes.
I'd love to see Rachel Maddow try to make a go of it on X. It would be guaranteed hilarity.
I'd love to see her try and take a go on any media outlet that wasn't just a propaganda outlet for Democrats and liberals.
Maybe she'll have to ask people to "Buy Me A Coffee" on Substack?
I wonder when, or if, the details on the lack of Federal response and the destruction by the hurricane in North Carolina will come out. The stories on X are horrific - but hard to verify.
Maybe the incoming Administration or Congress will investigate it. They damned well SHOULD.
Trump will deal shortly with FEMA!!
I thought Trump would win this too. The Democrats definitely need to look in the mirror, a theme I've seen repeated so many times, even by me.
Democrats and the military industrial complex have a history of not knowing mirrors or reverse gears exist, or caring if they did. Look at the Middle East, Israel and now Ukraine.
The Dems only care about messaging, they do not intend to actually do anything to help people. If the choice is between Forever War and all the benefits of Russian citizenship, it's a no-brainer.
Yes. My wife grew up in a peaceful part of the Soviet Union (Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic) and wouldn't object to being part of a thriving rather than destroyed country.

There's a pretty monument/platform to him in Moscow - up the street from the Conservatory if I recall right.

If one is not tribal, like you my friend, one can often see the patterns, read the room and sometimes correctly predict the future.
What a long strange trip it has been.

We likely had similar discussions on JPR - mostly the best people there, and now here!

No one ever has gotten an abortion on demand at 9 months pregnant. That’s silly.
I was making a point. You don’t have to be a jerk. I didn’t vote for either Harris or Trump.
Me neither, but I missed the point about late term abortion.
Thank you. The level of vitriol I am hearing from Kamala fans right now is astonishing- I mean, really hateful shit. I was happy Kamala lost, but really sad Trump won - these people are making me even happier she lost.
