Hey, Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! And of course, I agree with OB oneverything.

Side note - I recently had to give up my house - bad roof, $12,000 insurance premium - and now I am living in a totally paid for giant doublewide that needs a shitload of work, but should make a profit selling next year - I hope to never have to live in something I do not own again. Until, I guess, assisted living or whatever. Not in a 55+ place as yet, although 77 - I do believe my pickleball days are over. Not that I ever played pickleball, and actually I had to look it up. Or, um, Google it. Change is good! So are OB's articles, thank you!!!

Oh, best of luck. I don't blame you a bit for not wanting to rent; been there, done that. Never again if I can help it.

And yes I did have to look up pickleball. In Ohio the big thing's corn hole. You're not too old for that!

Haha, a loong time ago, somewhere in the 90's, when having internet at work was new, a guy who had moved from Indiana told me he found a website where there was just a camera watching corn grow. So we looked up "corn cam". OMG. Mucho porno. We panicked and unplugged the PC and worried for weeks that the asswipe arrogant Computer Security Guys would arrest us. So I never read about corn hole without thinking of Paul N. and porn. To this very day.

May you have an opportunity for a tiny house on the path to your goal, djean111

That is exactly what I want, I will be living with a friend my age, we will eat and drink and go to concerts and be wise old ladies. I will be giving the current place to my son, free and clear. I do think there will be a "market correction" sometime soon, and then I can pick up a tiny house. I am sort of thinking Fort Myers or Myrtle Beach at present, but who knows.

Excellent plan... only if you can "move" upon hurricane season, though, which is one advantage of tiny homes, eh? Good for you!

The best "tiny house" is a retrofitted vacation cottage. My cottage is 650 sq feet and I got a house and land for half of what some people pay for a tiny house alone.

That sounds perfectly wonderful. I also want to own the land, methinks. There are lots of "co-ops" in Florida where one owns the home/mobile home AND the land, and pay minimal fees for upkeep and amenities. I am not fixated on staying in Florida, though. Your situation sounds really great.

Happy Thanksgiving, my OBwan friend (for ALMOST all those reasons)... But I am doing also while much man-made suffering of people on earth go on.

I read you and love you here for the same reasons I did at JPR. I will never give up fighting whatever shit I have to in order to preserve it.

Happy Turkey Day to a fellow Buckeye! I'm not into football, but I am thankful for this year's 48 hour long Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie marathon. Nothing like a cheesy movie (or a couple dozen) to make one forget about the horrors of the world for a little while. Then it's back to the salt mines for me... I have a transcript of our Congressmember Marcy Kaptur's Zoom meeting with our local Palestinian Justice/Peace Group that I'm going to excerpt for my next post. (Marcy really needs to lose her record-breaking winning streak in the Congress. We have enough of AIPAC bought bodies there.)

I just realized I have so much to be thankful for - thanks to your post. I clicked on a YouTube video of a choir singing something lovely at the Sydney Opera House, and I thought - I have been there! I have been so many places, so effing lucky, job, wondrous now-deceased (for 23 years! How time flies!) boyfriend, even horrid marital vacations. Sold the house I lived in since 1987 to a flipper - and it actually felt good to get that maintenance/insurance beast off my back, my finances are way better - last summer I lived on frig remnants for a while, did you know pickle relish and mayonnaise taste pretty good, actually - and now I bought a turkey AND a ham for dinner. We will just graze all day. I have a very few wonderful friends, and I found y'all at JPR. Which sort of expanded my world exponentially. I have been destitute and heartbroken, and have been flush because of a good job and occasionally lucky in mad love. I tend to land on my feet, even when the reason I fall is due to horrendous decision making. I have music and art and books. And a devoted dogger named Charlotte. And, shallowly, very few wrinkles because I figured out Retin-A about 35 years ago. Yes, I realize I live in a bubble, but not bad for someone who spent six years in The Southern Home for Destitute Children, and went from there to an even worse environment. So yes, lots to be thankful about.

And I still have all my marbles. Currently working on a spreadsheet for renovations. I love spreadsheets. One frustration is being treated, at my age, as if I am senile. Although I admit I take advantage of it from time to time. Only fair. IMO.

So thanks for the reminder, OB and everyone else! I realize need to practice more gratitude. Every day. And now I will have a spiced rum and diet green tea with ginseng and honey. Ran out of Malbec. Make the most of what I have at hand - that, IMO, is a secret of life.

And I still will never get jabbed. Not because of CT stuff, just because nope, still seems skeevy and I think I am right. Right for myself, not everyone else. I don't like it that the newest "worry" of the WEF is an internet attack that takes down the banks and such. The world situation is so bad that sometimes I wonder how much time we all have left. Cue Three Dog Night singing Easy to Be Hard. And now I will be listening to "old" music.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
