Just finished listening to a great interview with journalist Whitney Webb, author of the two-volume "One Nation Under Blackmail", on the origins and nature of the fully bipartisan corporate Deep State. Neither party will save us and -- in fact -- will carry out the policies to entrap us all in a dystopian techno-feudalism ruled by corporate overlords.

I know, sounds a little over the top, but Trump and the obsequious Democrats are putting it in place. Really, our time to act is limited.

You can link to the interview here: https://unlimitedhangout.com/2025/05/press/media-roots-radio-2/

I am familiar with Whitney Webb. I believe she was on Redacted News a few times, and maybe Jimmy Dore or Due Dissidence, I don't remember.

I do remember her saying it was a good thing she didn't live in Canada due to her opposition to the mandates and the censorship that was going on there during Covid.

She's right about many members of our power elite, by C. Wright Mills' definition. They're all interconnected in a vast network of grift and corruption, and living proof that power and wealth corrupt.

You don't have to know Whitney Webb to know that it takes one corrupt fuck with way too much money to make it into the Epstein Files, or to notice that the only people in MAGA saying he committed suicide just happen to be on the Federal payroll now, or that Trump has said nothing on the subject.

And that the most likely explanation for that is that Trump himself is in the Epstein Files, probably not all that far from Bill Gates and Bill Clinton. Many in MAGA know this, and will remember.

As Donald himself said of his buddy Jeffrey Epstein: "Donald Trump said in 2002 that Jeffrey Epstein was a "terrific guy," and added, "It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side."" ( https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-epstein-terrific-guy/ )

An observation from firsthand experience, Donald?.

Fantastic article. I almost voted for Trump on the theory he was serious about America First, he wasn't of course. And you are the one who really drove home to me how a peaceful isolationist foreign policy and Zionism are radically incompatible.

I agree: if we can get past our differences, we have much in common. like a Venn diagram. I have many progressive friends who have a hard time seeing it. It boils down to: real people - working class, working poor, retirees, veterans, CHILDREN - in the "richest country in the history of the world" are suffering while our tax dollars go to a genocide and defense contractors. We don't need to do this. We don't need Lockheed, Boeing, Starlink. A golden dome!? JFC. Feed people. Educate. Allow them time to raise their children! Pay them sufficiently. Ban stock buybacks. Access to health care for all. (We lost that batttle when we tied health care coverage to employment.) Treat people with respect. Stop the compete or die mentality. Ah, well. I'm an old woman. I can dream.

That's one of the best replies ever, thank you.

If Thomas Paine were around today I can easily see him writing something like that. It's just common sense, after all.

Very good article. As a socialist (a Canadian one though not American) I know I have a lot more in common with MAGA than shit-libs. I always liked Massie. He seems like a man of principle and that's a rare thing to find when your talking about politicians.

Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul frequently worked together, which is why the elites of both parties hated them.

Massie's a Ron & Rand Paul type. They drive me nuts when they defend what I think is their fantasy of "real" capitalism, but they are staunch defenders of the Bill of Rights and consistent opponents of imperialism.

I bet CBC seldom mentions them, and when it does, refers to them as "far-right." That's far too simplistic.

I always liked Ron Paul and Kucinich as well. And I feel the same way about when the Paul's and Massie talk about "real capitalism" as well but I'm capable of agreeing to disagree with them on the those points while agreeing with them when it comes to opposing imperialism and standing up for freedom of speech and expression.

And you're right the CBC does refer to them as far right and I agree that's far too simplistic. I don't get most of my information for the CBC though 😉 and I certainly don't form my opinions based on their "journalism".

I was only checking on the CBC, not you. It never occurred to me you’d get most of your info from the Government’s Own “news” channel.

Yah, we need to build populist coalitions to accomplish a few Basic Things, like getting the bribery our of our politics and giving We The People a chance to select our own candidates to put on the ballot, to name just two.

"If Massie is the chisel that will fracture the Trump coalition, the Gaza Genocide is the sledgehammer. "

I can't wait to see that sledgehammer swing--and swing hard--crushing both Trump and his peons but also the entire corrupt system. Crush them all into dust!

About ten days ago the invisible regime command system sent out an order that it was now both permissible and mandatory to slightly criticise Israel. I have no idea why and I suspect it’s the diplomatic version of a “limited hangout”. But maybe just maybe Trump is preparing the ground to finally push back on Israel. I can hope right?

That bill last year banning 'antisemitic' speech, if memory serves, relied on a definition of antisemitism provided by an NGO funded by the Israeli government. As I understand it, it basically redefines any criticism of Zionism or the Zionist regime as antisemitic. But there's more: Apparently you're no longer allowed to point out that Jews killed Jesus. I can't wait for the court cases.

Tucker Carlson had Rep Massie on about a year ago. He claims to be the only member of Congress without an AIPAC minder, and I believe him.

I'm not as optimistic as you are that Netanyahoo, et al will alienate the MAGA base. It took Gaza - plus a lot of remedial reading - to snap me out of my Christian Zionist spell. I'm not sure many evangelicals are ready for that yet.

'The Invention of the Jewish People,' by Shlomo Sand, is well worth reading.
