Sigh. All these results and still no actual policy statements from Kamala -

I think her whole policy is "Trump must not win!"

They’ve actively gone back in time and erased previous policy statements she had made. For example, she no longer ever supported a day 1 ban on fracking.

We’ve already learned of course that she was never the border czar either. Really how ridiculous and frankly racist of you to think she ever was!

I’m looking at the fact that two people have already been reported as turning down the VP slot as a sign that not everyone thinks this can be maintained until November.

Yes, the truth of her history is inconvenient, so it's being carefully ignored and reframed - just like the media did for Biden.

There's all these vacuous memes going around Facebook supporting Kamala even though there's no indication she's offering anything different from Biden - as Chris Hedges pointed out in yesterday's podcast Q & A. I'm Canadian and I've decided most of my friends just skim headlines and fall into groupthink. Sure, no one I know can stand Trump (including me) but beyond that, there's not much point discussing politics with the vast majority. Only a few realize how FUBARED everything is (not just on the right, but on the left too). Hardly anyone cares about the genocide in Gaza or the meat grinder in Ukraine. It's just suface level identity politics, personality contests and other shallow b.s. Just like in the US. It's best to chat about music or sports or something. Keeps the blood pressure normal.

Yes, music is better! Try Lyapunov's Rhapsody on Ukrainian Themes - just gorgeous. And on Ukraine, Biden has just sent another billion and a half or so, but then, both Biden and Ukraine are forgotten. There's only one anti-war candidate now, and I've spent enough time in Ukraine and Russia that I'd like him succeed.

But listen to the Lyapunov! Gorgeous and will reduce your stress level :-)

Really ?!!! It matters little since we all know that, pending the revolution you so desire, the only winner in this charade is the deep state regardless of which candidate ends up 'winning'. All this means is that the world will continue to suffer the lawlessness, chicanery and mendacity that has characterised US 'administrations'. A pox on both your houses.

Of course! The deep state is already trying to weasel its way into getting Trump to appoint its loyal operatives, just like they did in 2017. We'll know more when Trump announces his Cabinet, but I expect it to be no better than Ohama's or his own the last time out.

Bravely bet, OB. I do not gamble; why, for a poor man, I’m rich. But I like your style.

I think the gambling options are the best remaining excuse for following American electoral politics.

As for results, I hope there’s enough disgust for RFK to seriously disrupt the electoral outcome in both directions. I would never, on principle, vote for a candidate with a chance to win, so that’s where I’m lobbing my pretend vote this round.

Now I’d like to ask a serious question, brother. Given the shenanigans witnessed with vote-counting in 2020, do you really think Trump will have the margin to win the electoral college race? Yes, mail-ins will be at least partially restricted this time, but all the other lead-swap mechs are still there, for the party that need not give a huckin foot about optics. The Repugnacogs still seem to think it necessary to hide the cheating, do they not?

That's a great question, and I don't know the answer since I don't know how far the kleptocracy is willing to let the Democrats go with ballot box-stuffing or creative tabulation.

My best guess today is that they will try, but can only flip the election by ridiculously obvious election fraud, so obvious that declaring $kamala the winner would risk SERIOUS social unrest. For that reason, there will be pressure just to let Trump win and settle for what they want 90% of the time instead of 100%.

After all, they got their tax cut last time, did they not? They got their inflated stock market. They don't see Trump as an existential threat to them, because he's not.

Thank you for the fine reply. Moving on from the question of who will cheat more conclusively, I would like to ask for you to consider posting in regard to the mainstreaming of the Trump campaign, to which many, notably including First Firster Fuentes, are beginning to react.

It is observed that the ham fisted quackery surrounding Biden’s surrender and the illegal hoovering of the Biden campaign chest by the nonexistent Harris campaign has been received with a muted and cowed silence from Trump and his team. I would be very interested in your perception of that whole carnival, with maybe a side dish of what if Kennedy had stayed Democrat.

Maybe I should have stuck this in a DM, but felt this thread was good context, old as it is.

I bet Jill Stein gets around 15% of the popular vote. If Kennedy gets about the same we could have a big glitch of anyone getting to 270. What you all think.

I’d love to see it. I can’t remember a time that someone other than the R or the D got even 10%. Ross Perot came close. But they made sure to push him out before he could mess up this little thing of theirs.
