It's tricky trying to word legislation that doesn't have a loophole. The biggie, to me, is at minium overturning Citizens United. But how do we keep the lobbyists from literally writing the legislation and legislators willingly taking payoffs? Even if they become "illegal," there's almost always a workaround. Thanks for asking about my wife. She's still in ICU, though she's stabilized and quite a bit better. Hopefully, she'll be transferred to a regular room soon. Then it will probably be a matter of some weeks before she can come home. She has a couple of nasty internal infections, but the antibiotics are working.
I must say the Cleveland Clinic is by far the nicest hospital I've ever been in. It's more like an airport or a mall in places than a hospital, and the ICU is definitely fully staffed. And the staff is friendly! My wife said they'd all been incredibly nice to her.
Of course, there are those Gold Elevators--they literally call them that. Reserved for people like Arab crown princes and such. They have high end dress and perfume shops on the first floor. I've never seen anything like it.
Glad your wife is getting good care. It's hard navigating the medical terrain these days. Sounds like you're both in it for the long haul. Be sure to rest yourself. It's a marathon, and no matter how good they are, she needs your advocacy. In my experience. Which is (sadly) vast.

When I began as an adult to pay attention to governments from local to national (upon the Reagan "revolution" and the Rush Limbaugh mental midgetry) every time there was a public outcry to amend the constitution for towards the purposes you outlined, someone inevitably would warn of all the evil things that would come from a "opening it up" at a constitutional convention. There will be none of that! It would open our Constitution to changes we would regret... Well, I keep a copy of Common Sense by Thomas Payne in the best place to read it (yeah, the comfort of THAT throne).
Only ten years before our Independence Day, Benjamin Franklin had been asked by the House of Commons about "the temper America towards Great Britain before the year 1763", who which he answered that it was, "best in the world" and how willingly the colonists submitted to the government of the Crown, and how obedient they were... I think everyone here knows how quickly that changed ... And, here we are again, not in charge of what we have allowed to happen or how war might have been approved. I feel that there will be SO MUCH structural change in what remains of THIS year, 250 years later, that it will make our heads spin. We can't get elitists and fascists out of government, but we need to. Fuck these forever wars.
I doubt the Ludlow Amendment would actually stop wars from starting, if only due to the likelihood of votes not getting counted accurately. If war is to be discouraged, the incentives for those who currently PROFIT from wars need to change. As long as the US MIC is owned by the rich for their own profit, & funding for wars comes from our wildly-regressive tax $$$$$$$$$$$, TPTB have every reason to start wars.
I love the idea to make war harder to start. Is the US in a war in Ukraine, or is providing weapons and financing a war a separate issue?
