At my house, we send those who make bad puns to their room. Go to your room. Also, bwah!

Hillary, especially, seemed to think that if she just referred to Trump as a convicted felon enough times, we would give a flying F about whatever she said. All I thought was that Hillary should be a convicted felon.

I was just remembering when Dems would whinge about the GOP having more media outlets than they did. Radio, whatever. So now, they managed to turn all of @MSM into lying lap dogs - and they still lost. Deeds, not empty words. IMO, the Dems will never really understand that enough to actually do that. They think in terms of better lies, that's all. That is their platform and mission.

Either the West's dimwit murderous leaders grew up playing with G.I. Joe and do not understand that war and death are real - or perhaps they need to be given G.I. Joe sets and sent to their rooms and not play with real people's lives.

How I know I may be getting old - when I type G.I. Joe, I think about a guy named Joe who has gastrointestinal issues. Or is an internal medicine doctor. I blame pharma TV advertising.

Netanyahu, I think I read, is only accepting a cease-fire so that Israel can concentrate on killing Palestinians.

It's been a gradual dawning for me to understand that a lot - maybe all - of the so-called crazy talk from Trump is true. He might misstate or exaggerate some details, but the gist of it is correct. Illegal FBI spying? Check. Impeaching him for things every president has done? Check. Weaponizing the justice system to try to prevent him from running again? Check. The Mueller witch hunt? Check. The most recent revelation was his claim that the election was stolen. I just saw (here? Def substack) that there were *15 million* more votes cast in 2020 than even the historic election in 2008, won by Obama. And then this year, back to normal range, notwithstanding "democracy was on the ballot." He was right. 2020 was stolen.

Trump has his faults, like all of us. But - I do think he is too shrewd of a businessman to completely make things up, especially since he knows he is fact-checked (well, some just automatically call him a liar) more than anyone else ever. And he knows how to read the room, where the Dems just assume they own the room and can say whatever they want. This cycle around, at least and IMO, the Dems were breathtakingly blatant liars.

You are on the right track buddy. I believe something like social conservatism and anti-capitalist economics is the future.

Yes, and it will be uniquely American, something new to this century, something that will make ruling classes the world over have troubled dreams.

Just like almost 250 years ago.

Yep. I would actually argue the colonial economic system that was mainly farmer, and owner operator craft businesses, and small local shops, wasn’t really capitalist, at least not in formal Marxist terms. For example most were probably self funded and didn’t employ wage slaves. There were exceptions of course, but certainly nothing like serfs or an industrial proletariat.

The Amish are already most of the way there. I wouldn't call their owner operated family farms "capitalist," would you?

Ohio Barbarian's avatar

No. There is no employer-employee relationship. Without that, whatever it is, it's not capitalism.

IMO if the left wants to regain a foothold and have “American characteristics” it needs to tap into this owner operator strain of Americana that stretches from the founding colonial villages, through Lysander Spooner and onto “mutualist” “market socialists,” like Benjamin Tucker. I suspect people like Jimmy Dore would grok it, if made aware of it.

This whole “progressive” laptop class elite identity politics has helped exactly no one not even the “marginalized" groups” it claims to advocate for.

If the left doesn’t get it’s shit together quick and pivot to something like this, you can look forward to MAGA on out through the 2030s.

Oh, also! Happy Thanksgiving to everybody!

I am going to try and stay away from YouTube. I can't fix anything dire anyway. Or maybe just click a lot on babies and pets and Big Bang and Nate Bargatze so my algorithm is not filled with strife and sorrow.

So - I scored BOGO frozen turkey breasts from Publix (the only barely affordable way to get them, but I just do not like anything else turkey-wise) and there is champagne and pinot grigio, and all the usual stuff, green bean casserole, etc. Two years ago I would have been avidly reading the Dollar Tree $15 Thanksgiving dinner article, so yeah, I have stuff to be thankful for!

And special thanks to OB, for all you give us.

And a few Ukrainian updates:

The reports I'd seen on new Western missile strikes appear to be wrong, I'm happy to say. However, Russia has closed the air space around the Oreshnik missile launch sites through the 30th -

Ukraine's Kuleba and Podolyak, former and current officials, want to go on Rogan and respond to remarks. Kuleba said "Hi joerogan, freaking at Ukrainians without giving them a chance to speak isn’t a fair fight. If you ever feel like having a real conversation, let’s sit down and chat about anything Ukraine-related – dragons included. You know your stuff, I know mine. Cigars on me."

And in the latest Joey efforts (?) on Ukraine, he's asked for another $24 billion, and requested the Ukrainian conscription age be lowered to 18 from 25. To the last Ukrainian!

Well, just think about the damages inflicted on demographics and how that seems to be avoided by the coverage that emphasizes the politics and technology.....Yes, damage to Ukraine's generation of young men.....I keep thinking about the 27 million Soviets lost during WWII and how that must have impacted their post WWII recovery and behavior......Similarly and tragically what will be the impact on Palestinian demographics.

Yes, I heard the story about closing the air space over the Oreshnik missile (ICBM launch site at Kapustin Yar) site. Did not have the date details that you provided and that is very much appreciated. I'm going to the Nutcracker on the 1st so I guess I'll have to wait/be wondering on what if any dust has settled...Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
