Dude the replies you're getting. WTF is wrong with people. I'm convinced 70% of comments are bots now. Like how spam email is 20% of all Internet traffic.
Yah, it's weird getting trolled on a frigging movie review, of all things. To me, reviews are just for fun and learning about interesting new things to read or watch.
And the parallel between spice and oil is as old as the books. It's not like this is something I heard from, oh, Tucker Carlson or Vladimir Putin.
Stuff like that is part of why I am convinced AI commenters are everywhere, Many possible reasons, like sentiment analysis confirmation, and manipulation. That might be paranoid, but it's what I would do if I were positioned differently. Even with my same ethics. Because it's morally harmless, or at least, acceptable. It could even be morally urgent to know these things, for example if I was genuinely trying to master diplomacy or some other variant of conflict resolution. Sidenote: if you want a book recommendation, you won't do better than peter watts. Start here: https://www.goodreads.com/series/43561-rifters Then goto Blindsight. He's the end of Sci-Fi afaic. There will be no more hard Sci-Fi beyond him because we're right up against the singularity now.
The intermission is the pause button me hearty, arrr! Agree completely. Part 2 is glorious compared to part one. They aren't gonna be able to go very far though with live actors. Too much time jumping flashback and cloning. Fun trivia, did you know star wars is just baby's first dune? http://www.moongadget.com/origins/dune.html
No! I didn't! Not at all. Well, that's interesting, and obvious once you think about it.
Part1, well. Liet-Kynes was a MAN, not a woman. He was also Chani's father. Fortunately, the actress in Dune 1 did everything her original male character did in the story, did it well, and also died when he did, so I'm OK with it. It's not like they made James Bond a woman, anyway.
Part 1 is basically a long tease to Part 2. I hope there's a Part 3, and maybe 4. They could use the same cast go make movies out of Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. After that, I think you're right.
Heheh cool, enjoy the trivia. I'm told Children is already the decided end. I don't know if it will be a two parter but I don't see how they are gonna even do that with the age difference between Paul and Alia. I guess it's fuzzy enough to work with, but isn't there a big jump between Children and Messiah? Maybe they can get away with a whole new cast by then. Imo it should have been an anime, but I'm biased. Apparently good animation at length is beyond the west's capability. Like moon landings >.>
Yeah, I watched it as well. It's one of the best movies I've seen in quite a while. I really like the dense, multilayered story with its thought-provoking themes.
Let me know. I've been a fan since the 70s, and Dune's so complex different people see different things.
No, that's not true at all. I enjoyed the movie, and never once thought it was trash, so I don't know where you get that from.
I don't think it was nearly as good as the book, but I seldom do. One can't do movies justice by comparing them to books.

I'll usually let one trollish post go, but that's usually the limit. Banhammer activated.

“Movies this long need a bloodydamned intermission!”
And here you are asking for more beer. smh
I can't help it. It's in my barbarian DNA.

I've yet to read the books, though.
For those who haven’t viewed it yet, highly recommend watching it in Dolby Digital, if available in a theater near you.
